Bereavement
 |

The Bereavement Committee lends support to family members in times of need immediately after the loss of a loved one with prayer for the mourners at the wake of a deceased parishioner. For help after the loss of a loved one.

Coffee and Fellowship
 |
|
Volunteers are needed to set up and pass out coffee and finger foods after the Sunday Masses. A schedule is prepared and distributed to volunteers with their assigned date. Any donations of baked goods of finger foods are accepted in Hardy Hall before the Masses on the first and third Sunday of the month. To volunteer, please contact Laura Kubasko or Dan Rachke at the parish office at 630-837-5411.

Funeral Luncheon

On occasion, families request a luncheon after a funeral. A team of parishioners assist in preparing food and serving at the luncheon.

Giving Tree
 |
|
Each year during Advent two trees are placed in the lobby of the church and decorated with tags, each having the name of a needy person and suggestions for gifts. Our generous parishioners take a tag, purchase a gift, identify the gift with respective tag and place it under one of the trees for distribution. These gifts benefit the needy from Communities Who Care, Hanover Township, and St. Peter Damian. For more information contact Maureen Lesch at the parish office 630-837-5411.

Help for Families

Occasionally a family finds itself in a bind due to illness in the family, hospitalization of a family member, a long term illness, a recent death or other crisis. To assure that the family members have a meal, four teams of parishioners offer to prepare a meal for the family on a temporary basis. The teams rotate this service.

"Have a Heart" Cart

When you do your grocery shopping, please remember the needy and pick-up an item or two for the “Have a Heart” cart. In the entrance of the church you will see the "Have a Heart" Cart. Parishioners donate non-perishable food items for families in need. We store this food at the church, and when someone calls for assistance, the parish staff will make up a food box for them.

Knights of Columbus

The Knights are volunteers in action committed to reaching out to mankind and making the world a better place in which to live. Membership is open to all men 18 years of age or older. For more information, contact Gerold R. Abraham at 630-830-0111.

Marriage Encounter
Ministers of Care
 |
|
Ministers of Care are needed to take the Eucharist to those who are shut-in at home or in the hospital. You will need to understand the environment within which the sick find themselves. Ministers are called upon to help families/individuals discover and understand God's plan for them. Mandatory training sessions offer insights into the manner and procedures needed to exercise in individual circumstances. The yearly training session for new and current Ministers of Care will be held at Holy Family Church, 2515 W. Palatine Road, Palatine, beginning on September 14 for six weeks and ending on October 19. Sessions will begin at 7:30 pm and end at 9:00 pm. Please contact the parish office or Jim Gallagher at 630-837-7344 if you would like to attend. We have two signed up already and will carpool. Please call Jim if you would like additional information on each of the sessions. The next Caregiver Conference at Alexian Brothers Hospital in Elk Grove will be on Saturday, September 11. Call Jim for a brochure or more information on signing up. This is the 24th Conference the Alexian Brothers have hosted. The speaker this session will be Father John Cusick. Finally, as most of the Ministers of Care know, we are hosting the next Ministry Enrichment Evening of Reflection for the Deanery's twelve parishes' Ministers of Care. It will be held on October 27 from 7:30-9:00 pm in the Chapel basement. Our speaker will be Joe Marco from Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. He is the Catholic Spiritual Director. Moms and Tots

Moms and Tots is a ministry at St. Peter Damian that provides parents with young children an opportunity to meet other parents in the parish. During the school year, parent and children meet in the basement of the parish rectory on the first and third Friday of each month from 9:30am until 11am. Prayer Shawl Ministry

Crafters knit or crochet shawls to be given to anyone going through a time of illness, sorrow, transition, challenge, and joyous occasions in life such as the birth of a child or marriage. The crafter begins each shawl with prayers and blessings for each recipient. Prayers are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. When the shawl is completed, it is offered a final blessing before being sent along its way. |
Respect Life Ministry

A parish organization that promotes the respect for all life, born and unborn. Look for our bulletin board in the church as well as articles in the bulletin.

Social Action Ministry

The Social Action Committee encourages efforts to bring justice to the community at large and generally gives voice to the unheard. |
Elgin Soup Kitchen

If you are interested in volunteering to provide a meal to those in need at a soup kitchen in Elgin, Illinois contact Michelle Parker at the parish office.

WIN (When in Need) Committee
 |
|
The When In Need Committee, after receiving a request for assistance, makes the necessary inquiries, directs the needy to the appropriate community agencies and then helps with immediate needs as resources permit. A collection is taken up four times a year to support this cause.

Women at the Well

Women at the Well provides opportunities for social, spiritual and educational enrichment for the women of the parish. The activities are planned as adjuncts to faith learning and are pertinent to the challenges experienced in our community. |
